Le Théàtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) is ready for a new season of thoughtful tales, soul-soothing jazz and creative new features that opens up the theatre to kids and anglophones alike.

It begins Oct. 3 with a intimate benefit concert by the international jazz and blues artist Susie Arioli of Montreal.

Only 100 people will have the chance to much on cocktail dinatorie (finger foods) while enjoying brand new tunes by the singer.

Kicking off TNO's season, Christian E. and his good friend Pierre-Guy B. will enthrall their audience in “Le Long Voyage de Pierre-Guy B.” with music-spiced stories of family trials and triumphs.

Performances with English surtitles take place Oct. 24.

On Nov. 1, TNO presents “Burrow: Forests, Paths and Tiny Treasures,” a free non-dialogue show for young children over the age of four. It's a tale of two small furry animals quarrelling over the winter stash.

Sudbury's Alain Doom portrays a very unlucky man in “Un Neurinome sur une Balancorie” later that month, evoking tragic episodes of his life, starting with his father's early disappearance, the gift of friendship from a dear departed poet and wrapping it up with the discovery of a cranial neuroma that will leave him deaf, paralysed or dead.

Anglophones can take in the play Nov. 14 and 19, when English surtitles will be available.

The play “Tue te souveindras de moi (You Will Remember Me),” about a friendship between an elderly historian and a teenage girl, runs in February, and features English surtitles Feb. 20.

“Un vent se lève qui éparpille (Scattered in a Rising Wind,” about an incident that shattered four people's lives, runs in March, with English surtitles March 4 and 10.
