The gallery said in an email that Gorecki's work is “unique and fanciful.”

“All art can be said to be experimental, but what happens when the artist lets go and lets the paint speak?,” Gorecki said, in a press release.

“I let each painting evolve on its own through layers of rubbing, scrubbing, dripping and brushing. Sometimes creatures emerge or forests spring up, but the painting’s true form always emerges through the shapes created on the canvas. I never know how it’s going to turn out, but part of the process is whatever comes up and turning it into a complete painting.”

A reception for the exhibit takes place Aug. 8 from 1-4 p.m. at the gallery.

Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin St., and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
