Come on out to the New Sudbury Centre this Saturday, Aug. 29 for Sudbury's first ever mascot beauty contest, in conjunction with New Sudbury Days.

All mascots from any Greater Sudbury organization are welcome to join: this includes schools and businesses.

The contest is being held in support of the Sudbury Food Bank's back-to-school initiative. It is also being held to celebrate Mayor Brian Bigger's birthday.

The winning mascot will not only take home a first place ribbon and bragging rights over his or her fellow mascots, but will get to ride shotgun with the mayor himself in a convertible to kick off the New Sudbury Days car show on Aug. 30.

Registration and check in for mascots is at 1:30 p.m. and the contest gets underway at 2 p.m. at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre in the Swiss Chalet quadrant.

For information on how to register, contact Deputy Mayor Joscelyne Landry-Altmann at 705-674-1212.
