If so, two upcoming tribute artist concerts presented by the Collingwood-based promoter Brock Live Events may be of interest.

A concert entitled This is Country!, featuring Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette tribute artists Pete Storm and Kelly Thompson, as well as Kenny Chesney tribute artist Ray Darren, takes place at Collège Boréal Sept. 11.

The next evening, Sept. 12, a concert entitled A Little Less Conversation featuring three different Elvis tribute artists takes place at Collège Boréal.

The performers cover three different eras of Elvis' career — Bruce Andrew Stewart depicts the Elvis of the 50s and his time as a GI, Jay Dupuis in his 1968 period and Storm (who's also an Elvis artist) depicts 1969 and on.

This is the third year the Elvis tribute show has visited Sudbury, although this is the first year for the country show.

Brock Live Events co-owner Mitch Brock said when he put on shows in Southern Ontario, he'd receive requests from Sudburians to bring the concerts to Sudbury. It turns out that Sudbury's a great market, he said.

Those attending the concerts will be asked to make financial or non-perishable food item donations to the Sudbury Food Bank.

After he tallies up the proceeds from concerts, Brock said he usually writes a cheque to the food bank on behalf of his company.

“We look forward to it every year,” he said. “We're hoping it slowly grows and grows and it gives the food bank that yearly shot in the arm.
“There's certain times when people aren't really thinking about (the food bank), when they still need that supply. If we can get in and fill that downtime, it makes those holiday drives that much easier on them.”

Doors to both concerts open at 7 p.m., with the performances starting at 8 p.m. Tickets, which cost $40, are available at www.brockliveevents.com or 1-888-655-9090.
