The Atom Egoyan thriller shot in the Sudbury area in 2013 will premiere on TMN, The Movie Network, Sept. 18 at 9 p.m.

The Captive stars Ryan Reynolds. He plays a father looking for his daughter who has been missing for eight years. The film was originally titled The Queen of the Night.

The film was shot in February 2013 over a two-week period and premiered at Cannes in 2014, where it did not get great reviews from critics. Variety's Justin Chang called it a "ludicrous abduction thriller that finds a once-great filmmaker slipping into previously unentered realms of self-parody.”

The Captive will also be shown on MFun Sept. 18 at 11:15 p.m.; MFest Sept. 19 at 1:25 a.m. and repeats on TMN Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
