Cinéfest reveals Best in Shorts finalists

Cinéfest Sudbury recently announced this year’s finalists for the CTV Best in Shorts Competition. The screening of the finalists’ films takes place Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. at SilverCity Sudbury Cinemas, located at 355 Barrydowne Rd.

The screening of the finalists’ films takes place Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. at SilverCity Sudbury Cinemas, located at 355 Barrydowne Rd. The screening will be followed by the Awards Presentation.

The 2015 finalists are:
  • That Winter, Jim Calarco, North Bay 
  • Spree, Eric Harrison, Sudbury 
  • Liberation, George Bull, Temagami 
  • Distracted, Dale Carrigan, Sudbury 
  • Down South, Shawn Kosmerly, Sudbury 
  • You’ve Got Male, Adriana Nicolucci, Hannah Petingola, Gabrielle Bonin, Sudbury 
  • The Desolate Departure, Danny Van Zandwyk, North Bay 
  • Perceptions, Zahra Golafshani, Sudbury 
  • The Maker, Alek Bélanger, New Liskeard 
  • Ordinary Miracle, Martin M. Smith, Sudbury 

The awards up for grabs include the open category (first place $1,500, second place $750), student category (first place $1,500, second place $750), Innovation Award ($1,000) and Northern Flicks Awards ($1,000),

The 27th edition of Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival runs Sept. 19-27.
