Kevin Russell inducted into the Greater Northern Opry

Sudbury musician Kevin Russell was inducted into the Great Northern Opry at the annual Northern Country Music Association conference, held in Sault Ste. Marie Nov. 6-8.

Sudbury musician Kevin Russell was inducted into the Great Northern Opry at the annual Northern Country Music Association conference, held in Sault Ste. Marie Nov. 6-8.

The complete list of award winners is as follows:

-Miguel Bedard – Mike Case Award
-Don Brose and Al Mooney (Sault Ste. Marie) – Northern Ontario Country Music Hall of Fame.
-Jeff Gilmore (Manitoulin Island), Tim Shaw (Manitoulin Island), Ervil Boreland (North Bay), Kevin Russell (Sudbury), Debbie Rivard (Blind River), Chantal Delorme (Timmins), Dana Lee Herbert (Smooth Rock Falls), Robert Sabovich (Kapuskasing) – Great Northern Opry.

The Opry is managed by the Northern Ontario Country Music Association (NOCMA), based in Sault Ste. Besides The Great Northern Opry, NOCMA operates the Northern Ontario Country Music Hall of Fame, NOCMA Records Label, and organizes the annual Northern Ontario Country Music Awards weekend.

Russell joins a distinguished list of Nickel City performers already inducted into the Great Northern Opry.

The other Opry members from Sudbury are Scott Infanti, Eugene Dubreuil, Paul Chapman, Don Reed, Sam Lahti and Gilles Giroux.
