Sudbury's bilingual choir, Les Troubadours, presents its “Christmas Night” concert Nov. 27-28 at St. Andrew's Place.

With Darquise Poulin as musical director, the tenors, basses, sopranos and altos that comprise the 30 or so choir members will present some familiar and not-so-familiar Christmas songs, in English, French and Italian.

“Since September, we’ve been rehearsing some songs that are somewhat more difficult,” Poulin said.

“I have introduced many new titles this year. I always like to demand a bit more, because I know they can perform these songs with gusto. Further, some members of the children’s group La Relève have joined the Troubadours, and they have made a fantastic contribution to the choir.”

The upcoming concert of the Troubadours offers a mix of traditional songs as well as more contemporary numbers.

You can expect to hear the traditional Les anges dans nos campagnes, Sleigh Ride and Deck the Halls, among others such as It’s Christmas everywhere.

The children’s group La Relève, numbering some 20 young singers aged eight to 16, will once again join voices with the Troubadours to offer a few songs.

When it was started 21 years ago,the Troubadours consisted of a group of friends who were fans of good music. Through the years, the group has evolved to become a unique bilingual community choir.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. both nights. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students and children under the age of 12.

Tickets are on sale at Jett Landry Music, as well the Caisse Populaire Les Voyageurs at 531 Notre Dame Ave., and the Caisses Populaires in Azilda, Chelmsford, Val Caron and Hanmer.
