Funny Money, Theatre Cambrian’s next dinner theatre production, runs for the next two weekends.
In this hilarious comedy, Henry A. Perkins, a mild-mannered C.P.A., mistakenly picks up the wrong briefcase and instead finds himself with a briefcase full of money.
Henry assumes it is illicit cash and decides to keep it. He tells his confused wife to leave everything behind; if she doesn’t like Barcelona, they can go to Bali. In fact, they can buy Bali.
Henry’s later attempts to extricate himself from this impossible situation lead to increasingly hysterical situations.
The director of the production, Marc Larivière, fell upon the play while looking for information about a different production.
“The reviews were very good and so I decided to look into it. It made me laugh from page one. I instantly knew that this was a play that I wanted to do,” he said.
“It’s a madcap comedy full of zany situations and I think people from Sudbury will love it. It is fast paced with plenty of mistaken identities and with characters continually entering and exiting the stage.”
Funny Money runs Feb. 5 and 6, and Feb. 12 and 13.
Tickets, which cost $50, are available at www.theatrecambrian.ca or by phone at 705-524-7317.
