The contemporary dance company Tara Luz Danse invites Sudburians of all ages to experience the excitement of movement and enjoy excerpts from its latest works as it presents En studio avec nous (Step into the studio) Feb. 28.

The performance takes place at 2 p.m. in Collège Boréal’s concert hall.

Founded in 2006, Tara Luz Danse is a contemporary dance company in residence at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa.

Its playful, imagistic and poetic choreographies reflect the organic and intuitive approach of its founder, choreographer Anik Bouvrette. To date, the company has produced two creative projects in schools: Impro en mouvement and Croisée.

Tara Luz Danse knows how to share the joy of movement with everyone - even people who don’t see themselves as dancers - and make people discover their creativity in new and exciting ways.

En studio avec nous combines presentations of excerpts from the company’s works with opportunities for active participation by audience members of all ages. With live musical accompaniment, you will explore the concepts of movement that inspire the works of Tara Luz Danse.

Excerpts from the works “Les bâtons” (Sticks) and “Les billes” (Marbles) will be presented and participants will also be invited to experience physical creativity themselves alongside the company’s dancers. Comfortable shoes and clothing that allows free movement are recommended.

“Our collaboration with Tara Luz Danse is growing deeper and it’s truly a remarkable element of our programming,” said Stéphane Gauthier, executive director of Carrefour francophone.

“Children get to spend time with excellent contemporary dance artists in our child care centres and summer camps, and sometimes they are the ones who inspire the artists.”

Tickets, which cost $5 for children, $12 for adults, $11 for students and seniors and $25 for a family of six, may be obtained from the TNO’s ticket agency at 705-525-5606, ext. 4 or online at www.letno.ca.
