Fred Slade, a local chartered accountant and community volunteer, has been acclaimed by the Sudbury Conservative Electoral District Association as their candidate for the next federal election in Sudbury, the party announced Aug. 14.
“I am both honoured and excited to be the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for Sudbury in the next federal election,” said Slade, in a press release. “My experience in dealing with the people of Sudbury in both my work and through my community endeavours has helped to prepare me for this challenge.”
“I share the values and experiences of fellow northerners, parents, volunteers and working Canadians and have 35 years of real world experience working with local business people, employees, seniors and students,” he continued.
“I look forward to working with my committed team and am looking forward to meeting as many people in this riding as I possibly can. I want to give the people of Sudbury every opportunity to see and hear from me as I seek to be their representative in Ottawa.”
Slade was born and raised in Falconbridge, and has resided in Sudbury throughout his professional career.
He currently serves on the local advisory boards for the Salvation Army and John Howard Society, and volunteers with First Steps Ministry located within the Samaritan Centre. Slade is also the treasurer of Junior Achievement Northern Ontario.
