The province is investing $1.77 million to help modernize resources and equipment at two local community colleges.

The following allocations were made:

  • $1,096,380 has been allocated to Cambrian College for X-ray equipment, lead ECG defibrillators, milling machine and teaching modules for solar and wind
  • $674,910 has been allocated to Collège Boréal for wireless video conferencing equipment and software in order to provide access for all campuses

“I appreciate the continued recognition and support that we are receiving from the provincial government,” said Cambrian College president Sylvia Barnard, in a press release.

“Cambrian delivers education and training for a broad range of careers. These funds will enable us to provide the real-life, hands-on experience that our graduates need to enter the workplace and be productive members of our community and society.”

"Thanks to the Ontario government, Collège Boréal was able to implement leading edge technology in distributed learning and wireless networks in order to meet the needs of its students" said Collège Boréal president, Denis Hubert.

“The McGuinty government is helping our students stay current by modernizing the resources and equipment they require to learn and develop,” said Bartolucci. “We are paving the way for a stronger economy tomorrow through strategic investments today, because we realize that our students cannot use yesterday’s skills in today’s knowledge based environment and expect to be in a position of growth tomorrow.”
