Rainbow District School Board names chair, vice-chair

At the annual organizational meeting of the Rainbow District school board on Dec. 15, Tyler Campbell was elected chair and Doreen Dewar vice-chair of the board.

A graduate of Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School, Campbell represents Area 2 in Greater Sudbury, and was elected to the board in 2003. He has been vice-chair since 2007, and was a member of the negotiating committee, the technology committee and the accessibility committee.

Since 2005, Campbell has been part of the Accessibility Standards Advisory Council of Ontario, which advises the government on accessibility for those with disabilities.

Dewar is the longest-serving trustee with the board, and has represented the south end of Sudbury for more than 20 years. She has served as board chair in the past. She is currently chair of the policy and finance committees.

Dewar is a former teacher, coach, entrepreneur, volunteer and homemaker, and has received awards for community involvement both locally and provincially.
