One hundred per cent of the graduates from this year's class in the Cambrian College paramedic program have successfully completed the Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant exams.
To practice in the paramedic field in Ontario, individuals must become certified by passing these exams. The exams are set by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Students are tested on overall competencies, professional and ethical knowledge, critical thinking, and application abilities.
The college’s paramedic program, which is nationally accredited by the Canadian Medical Association, combines theory with practical experience and focuses on all aspects of emergency medical services.
Students are provided with the skills and experience to assess, treat, and anticipate patient needs encountered in the pre-hospital environment. The comprehensive curriculum is aligned with national standards and prepares students well to write the Ontario provincial exams.
“For five years, our graduates have excelled on the provincial exams and have been a model of Cambrian’s commitment to student success,” said Kevin Branch, co-ordinator of the paramedic program, in a release put out by Cambrian. “We are proud of their success and pleased that Cambrian has once again graduated a dedicated group of professionals who will make a positive contribution to the health care field.”
