United Way and its participating community partners launched the Youth for the United Way Photo Contest Oct. 9 at Marymount Academy.

The inaugural contest invites students to define the word “give” through the magic of the camera lens. The United Way believes that increased youth engagement helps to build a strong foundation for the Sudbury community.

Elizabeth Urso, a Marymount Academy student and Student Trustee for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, said she is excited to have her school participate in the campaign.

“This year, the United Way is hoping to engage youth in the Sudbury community…The youth of our community bring a new, vibrant perspective to charitable action and fully grasp the need of those around them,” says Urso.

“The United Way is hoping to engage and inspire youth to offer their assistance to those in need, strengthening the bond they have with their community and fellow citizens.”
