Snowplows, graders and other vehicles used for winter maintenance will patrol municipal roads during training exercises today through Oct. 28.

The test run of winter vehicles and equipment is an opportunity for crews to identify potential hazards, obstacles and operational challenges that can be addressed prior to the winter season. Most snow clearing vehicles are outfitted with Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) units that allow supervisors to track vehicle location, speed and equipment function.

Residents who have questions about this training exercise are asked to call 3-1-1 for municipal services.

  • I wonder if they are practicing on Southview Drive with those rediculous obstacle throughout the roadthat the city wasted tax payers $$ on. It will be interesting to track how many vehicles will be hitting those curbs in the Winter and the Snowmore» plows........more damage to the blades and the obsticles.«less

  • they had test runs last year and what a crock that was...it's different driving a dry road and one with snow and obstacles...why don't they just hire more plows , ones that stay in their own community. Maybe the service time would be so muchmore» better. Or, have a truck to a quick pass then one come behind to do a better cleanup...at least we would be able to come out of our driveways with a quick pass instead of waiting for a plow to come to do a good run.«less

  • J. Smith, the bus driver promised that the plows would raise the blade before going by your driveway.

Did he perhaps tell a 'not truth'?

  • Good luck plowing those new idiotic "traffic calmed" streets. Hopefully the plow will rip those stupid islands right off the road.

  • They already tore out my grass and left a big bank of snow in my driveway :)

Look out on Southview, how long before (once we get snow) the curbs are ripped out?
