Environmental Public Health Week will be held Jan. 18 to 24 to increase the public's knowledge of the role of environmental health officers across Canada.

Information displays about environmental public health will be set up in the following locations in Sudbury:

  • Jan. 19 Collège Boréal
  • Jan. 20 Real Canadian Superstore
  • Jan. 21 Laurentian University

A public health inspector will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each location to answer questions from the public.

Information displays will also be set up at the Sudbury & District Health Unit branch offices in Chapleau, Espanola, Mindemoya, and St. Charles.

Environmental Public Health Week was established in 2003 by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.

Public health inspectors and environmental health officers provide services in a number of areas including food safety, air and drinking water quality, outbreak management and prevention of food-borne illnesses.
