Local CAS dons pink to draw attention to bullying

As part of an effort to draw attention to the problem of bullying in the community, staff at the Sudbury and Manitoulin Children's Aid Society (CAS) will be wearing pink on April 14.

"Despite some progress in raising public awareness the fact is bullying remains a problem in our schools, workplaces, homes and over the internet," Jane Kaija, president of Local 668 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), said.

The local represents the about 200 staff members at the Sudbury and Manitoulin CAS.

National Pink Shirt Day was started by a group of teenage boys in Nova Scotia, to support another boy who was the victim of bullying.

Across Canada, several schools, businesses and organizations mark the day and promote its slogan, "Bullying Stops Here," a press release said.

Children's Aid have been bullies (confirmed in Ontario Courts) and probably one of the single largest bullies of Children and Parent in Ontario.

@ eyes wide open.....I understand that methodone is often mixed with orange juice...please expand on your comment...for the sake of children and families everywhere that either need or are forced to deal with CAS.

In 2002 and 2005, for unknown reasons two other assessments I provided were not accepted by your "society" . Please reveiw the above qualifications and indicate whether these qualifications are acceptable. If so I am requesting a visit with my son ASAP. If they are not acceptable, then please explain why.
Also please disclose to me the time and dates of your monthly board meetings as they are supposed to be open to the public. Please reply via email.

There is not a chance in hell that Sudbury CAS has as many employees as the Regional Police do, So where does all money go to? CAS to wear pink…..well I agree with maximvs on a lot of the CAS problems…now and I know CAS are the bullies on a certain case…they take kids out of homes that are abusive but don’t give them to other family members…including the other parent..instead they put then into foster care where they don’t know anyone, so I call that metal bullying. We the public should pick a colour and wear it while we stand across the street from the CAS during the rallies. And our slogan should be .. NATIONAL CAS ARE BULLIES DAY.

You said it Max,they are a PRIVATE corporation. Most families that go to CAS for help soon learn its all about the $$$ ! This Government needs to get its head out of its a@@ and realize they are funding a sinking ship ! They have given this PRIVATE corporation authority to over rule the Government itself. Doctors,lawyers,Judges,police all shake in their shoes at the thought of going against the CAS no matter how unreasonable or hair brained their decission is.
Where is the accountability for CAS when something goes wrong? How do families undo the wrong that CAS has caused in childrens lives ! And more important..when will someone finally stand up for what is right!

I'd say right now the worst thing that could possibly happen to a child being intercepted by CAS is to have your parents kill you just like that poor baby that died in Chelmsford. Where were they there?They were involved so why did this happen?They stood by and watched 2 parents bully a helpless premature baby but expect people to give praise for this?HA

If you really want to see a product of the CAS then just look at the kids that hang around the downtown area.
The worst thing that could possibly happen to a child is to be placed in the care of CAS.

Do you think the guy mentioned above has enough qualifications? However the only qualification CAS is interested in approving is the assessor's willingness to write a report favorable to CAS, more funding and promoting the falacy that they help our community. Bullying? Sudbury CAS is the biggest bully in our community! I believe the board of director and other members of the Sudbury CAS may not be aware of some of the "work" CAS's front line workers are doing in our community. As board directors they should be and if they neglect their responsibility they should be exposed to the public...after all this is a public corporation funded with everyone's tax dollars. Would you go see an an assessor "pre approved" by CAS when they turned down two independant ones?

Ha Ha Ha,,,,Wearing pink to bring awareness to bullying? You should be wearing black for the under handedness, abuse and lack of accountability. What happened to wearing blue to bring awareness to proposed funding cuts to CAS? Hmmmm 200 employees in Sudbury and Sudbury CAS recieved over 68 million dollars last year (not including donations)... something doesnt add up. Bullying is what Sudbury CAS does best. They bully parents and I'll bet they bribe judges and doctors too. With over 90% of lawyers in Sudbury held on "retainer" by Sudbury CAS, its obvious why any lawyer here won't stand up to them or judge for that matter for fear of being blacklisted in this community. CAS's board memebers include members of city council among other so called dignitaries. Some people are soooo vain! These are children we are talking about. CAS probably causes more pain and suffering than any good in this community. Neither the CAS or court would give me even a supervised visit with my child in over 5 years! Where is my kids "court appointed" lawyer you ask? Look in CAS's pockets to find her!

It been 5 years since I seen my kids. I have no history of menatl illness, or ever abused a child. My child has indicated every year they wishe to see me. The CAS interupted my Superior Court ordered access when petitioned to do so by a parent who would not allow access to me and was often in contempt of the court ordered access order. CAS's involvement trumped any access I was awarded. CAS had no case against me. They developed a "theory" that asking a child how things were at school "may" cause emotional damage and CAS argued in court that I under go an assessment with an assessor who's qualifications have "pre-approved" by the CAS. Poor judge...I provided the CAS with 2 independant assessments (2001 and 2005) but they didnt say what CAS wanted them to say. So a year later they wanted to choose the
