Through its new Northern Ontario Entrepreneur program, launched last spring, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is injecting $182,250 into Greater Sudbury.

The Northern Ontario Entrepreneur Program (NOEP) offers grants of up to $125,000, to help business owners put new ideas into action, explained a press release.

The program brings in the most applications of the seven heritage fund's assistance programs.

Four businesses in Greater Sudbury will receive funding through NOEP.

“While stabilizing and growing our larger employment sectors remains crucial to building a strong future for the North, small business will always be essential to meeting local needs for products and services,” Rick Bartolucci, Sudbury MPP, said in the press release.

Forty-three new businesses have been launched through grants provided by NOEP, to the tune of $1.95 million. Dozens of applications are currently being processed, explained the press release.

A new store in the New Sudbury Shopping Centre, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, received the maximum amount of grant money allowed by the program - $125,000.

Sudbury Northern Adventures, an outfitting service and eco-tourism provider operating in wilderness areas northeast of Sudbury, received $24,250.

Schmidt Environmental Solutions Inc., an environmental consulting operation specializing in soil, groundwater and surface water, received $16,500.

Home Instead Senior Care also received $16,500 to help establish its franchise in Greater Sudbury.
