NOSM dean Sudbury's highest public sector earner in 2009

The province of Ontario has released its annual "Sunshine List," a list of public servants earning more than $100,000 in the province. More than 800 Greater Sudbury residents are on the list, according to media reports.

This year, the province-wide number is up to 63,761, up 18 per cent from the previous year.

Dr. Roger Strasser, dean of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine is the highest-earning Greater Sudbury resident, bringing in $372,307.88 in 2009.

Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, the medical officer of health and CEO of the Sudbury and District Health Unit came in at $283,922.

With earnings of $263,009.68, G. Normand Glaude, a Justice for the Ontario Court of Justice, was also high on the list.

The city's highest paid employee is Chief Administrative Officer Doug Nadorozny, who brought home $214,539.

The City of Greater Sudbury had 99 city employees on the Sunshine list, and 12 of those employees brought home more than $130,000 a year.

Thirty-five of the 99 city employees on the list are members of Greater Sudbury Fire Services, and 21 are Greater Sudbury police officers.

Laurentian University had the most employees on the list with 251 people making more than $100,000. That's 25 more people than last year.

In comparison, Cambrian College had 47 people on the list, and College Boreal had 42.

Sudbury Regional Hospital had 39 more employees than last year on the list. In 2008, the hospital only had 80 people on the list.
