  • School bus seats are designed to protect children in the case of an accident. It is hard enough to get them all to sit properly and stay in their seats as it is. Can't imagine adding a belt to that! Imagine an accident with the added seat belts that are not buckled swinging around. Not to mention on a normal day the metal on those belts could easily be used as a weapon. There is not a board in Ontario that would have enough money to have adult monitors to assist in all that would be needed if belts were added. And drivers have enough to deal with as it is! (Yes, I am a bus driver) And it is not 30+ children, most buses are packed to 72 kids!!

...... that is not what this article is about anyway!

  • School Bus, coach, city bus..all the same thing.

Let's get real here though. You know how difficult it would be to get 30+ children under 10 to buckle up and remain buckled up?...forget about the teenagers.

  • I hope none of these schools close. They are all good schools. What it boils down to is , is it cheaper to bus the kids than to keep the school open. Makes a good case for home schooling. Why are we putting 4&5 year olds on a bus with no safety seats and no seat belts. If a parent or any one else transported a child in such a manner they would be fined and considered neglectful. Yet the government persists in allowing this on a school bus SHAME!!
