Thanks to a $60,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Le Carrefour francophone de Sudbury can continue to offer innovative cultural and educational programming in its day cares and before-and-after school programs.

Children and youth in nine day care centres and 11 before-and-after school programs throughout the city will take in programming based around three themes this year, including health, the environment and the international French community, la Francophonie.

In the past year, about 5,360 children have taken part in 286 workshops.

During the months to come, Carrefour francophone day care centres will host nature workshops, provide physical activity kits and partake in “Walk around the World,” a community challenge where participants collectively walk the Earth's circumference. Children enrolled in the Tremplin before-and-after school programs will witness presentations by Bouge de là, a Montreal dance troop, and a concert by Alcaz, a southern France band.

  • That's funny.... I know a private daycare in the Donovan, that has been operating for more than 20 years that gets NO grants from the government. Maybe our tax dollars are being spent foolishly - again!
