Last year, the city invested their gas tax allocation in buses with new STOP announcement technology.

“I am very proud that I have been able to announce in excess of $14 million in gas tax funding since we became government,” Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said, in a press release.

Ontario shares two cents per litre of gas tax revenues with municipalities to expand and improve their public transit systems –in Sudbury and across Ontario.

“Greater Sudbury values our partnership with the McGuinty government in public transit.  This funding that Minister Bartolucci brings, year after year, helps not only improve our fleet and our service but helps maintain the bottom line,” Ted Callaghan, budget chair for the City of Greater Sudbury, said.

“The Gas Tax Program is paying off for our city, providing sustainable transit funding and allowing Greater Sudbury Transit to continue making significant improvements,” concluded Bartolucci.
