May 16, 2010- 11:59 AM

By: Sudbury Northern Life Staff

A public information session will be held on May 18 to discuss waste-water treatment bylaws.

The new bylaw would reduce the amount of rainwater and melted snow entering the sanitary sewer system, eliminate contaminants from the sanitary sewer system and close three hauled liquid waste sites and divert all of it to the Greater Sudbury Wastewater Treatment Plant.

A draft of the bylaw is available online at www.greatersudbury.ca, search sewage/wastewater treatment.

The bylaw will replace existing regulations that have been in place since 1973.

The information session will take place at the Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre, located at 4040 Elmview Dr. in Hanmer on Tuesday from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m., with a presentation at 7 p.m.
