Sudbury students take home prizes in OMA video contest

Two of eight awards from the Ontario Mining Association (OMA) video contest So You Think You Know Mining? were presented to Sudbury high school students at the association's annual conference on June 15.  

Held at the Clarion Resort in North Bay, the conference and general annual meeting was titled: The Future of Mining in Ontario: Is it Golden? A variety of keynotes, panel discussions and other topics like safety, environmental and energy issues  were discussed over the course of two days.

High-school students were acknowledged for their video-making efforts at the gala awards ceremony.

St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School students David DeLong and Alan DeLong won best overall video in the contest. They took home a $5,000 prize. Five hundred dollars will also go to the boys' school for video equipment.

Lockerby Composite School student Katrina Malinski also won the best writing prize, and took home $2,500.
