Ontario's Lieutenant Governor will make an official visit to Greater Sudbury, and will tour the Glenn Crombie Centre at Cambrian College and take part in the Opening Ceremonies of the Ontario Summer Games.

The Honourable David C. Onley and his wife, Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley, will arrive in Greater Sudbury on Aug. 10. They will sign the official city guestbook while at Cambrian College. He will tour the Glenn Crombie Centre, described by the college as a multi-service complex that "promotes accessibility and success for students with disabilities within the Cambrian Community."

According to the Lieutenant Governor's website, Onley “is a champion for people living with disabilities.” He works to raise awareness about disability issues throughout Ontario.

Onley is the first Lieutenant Governor to have a physical disability. He was diagnosed with polio as a young child, but through physical therapy, has regained the use of his arms and hands, and partial use of his legs.

On Aug. 11, the Lieutenant Governor will take part in the opening ceremonies of the Ontario Summer Games.

The Games run from Wednesday, Aug. 11 until Friday, Aug. 13.
