By: Sudbury Northern Life Staff

A group of five injured workers who were laid off from Xstrata Nickel last year and their supporters will hold a rally outside of the road leading to the company's Nickel Rim South Mine Aug. 18 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

The workers, who say they have not been recalled despite having high seniority, have held a series of protests over the last month.

They say the company has a duty to place them in modified work positions.

Nickel Rim South Mine is located off of Skead Road, near the Sudbury Airport.

For more information about the rally, phone Vicky McIvor at vmcivor@live.com or 866-1786.

Attacking me or blindly defending this group is what you did for months regarding Local 6500. I can't believe you continue on such a sensless path.

Do you think this is helpful to the 5?
Do you have an opinion regarding their case?
    or
Do you continue to make personal attacks?
    You're a single dimension person Mario"n"

  • Look Marion
If they don't want the public (which includes me) to ask questions regarding their situation, they shouldn't present their case to the public and hold public demonstrations.

Once they went public, their situation is open to public scrutiny.

    How were the kids doing?

  • The proper word is 'response'.Wouldnt want Noofus to jump all over me for my poor spelling

  • '2 days later and no respones'.Excuse me Noofus, but who the hell do you think you are to think these five workers have to reply to you?.

Remember, the fact you think you are 'important'is all in your head. The rest of us just find you 'amusing'

  • @ cynnical1
Well, that's about what we've come to expect.

  • 2 days later and no response. Either these 5 don't read NL on the computer or are embarassed to answer my questions.

Are you just 5 Sudburians looking for a continuation of the free ride you used to have?

Talk to us if you want us on board with you for your demos or else we'll blow by your demos at Nickel Rim only blowing our horns to get you out of the way

  • What were these former employees doing when they were laid off?
They're "injured". What work can they do?
Are they on Comp or did they take a compensation buyout?

Please inform us so we can better understand their dilemna.
