With the summer winding down, students in the Greater Sudbury area are preparing to start classes again over the next few weeks.

Elementary and secondary students at all four area school boards will head back to class Sept. 7.

A press release put out by the Rainbow District School Board said there will be no early dismissal in its schools on the first day of classes.

Cambrian College students will begin their semester Aug. 30, Collège Boréal students Sept. 7 and Laurentian University students Sept. 8.

A press release put out by Cambrian said the institution will welcome more than 2,500 new full-time students this fall.

Cambrian's frosh students will participate in the college’s “Get in Gear For First Year” event – a special week-long event that will provide students with information about their program, courses, student services, and campus life.

First-year students at Boréal will participate in a tour of the Sudbury area and orientation sessions Sept. 2 and 3, according to the college's communications officer, Benoît Clément.
