Thorneloe installs new chancellor

Barbara Bolton retired as the director of rehabilitation at Sudbury Regional Hospital in 2000. She has worked with OXFAM, and made several trips to Uganda, including one on a CIDA project to help rebuild its maternal and child health program at the main government hospital in Kampala and another to teach health administration.

She began her tenure with Thorneloe's board of governors in 1992, and from 1996-200, she served as the board chair.

David Cayley was also awarded an honourary Doctorate of Sacred Letters at the convocation ceremony and Rev. Genny Rollins was awarded the Thorneloe Mitre.

Cayley is a writer and broadcaster with the CBC. Having served as a principal writer/producer/interviewer for the CBC program “Ideas,” Cayley has written and edited several books, including Ideas on the Nature of Science (2009), The Rivers North of the Future: The Testament of Ivan Illich (2005), and Puppet Uprising (2003).

Rollins is an Anglican priest in Sudbury. She has served as the chaplain at the City of Sudbury Jail for many years, having gained the admiration and respect of both inmates and employees alike.

Rollins is also a graduate of the Thorneloe College School of Theology and the Rector at All Saints Anglican Church in Coniston.
