The Conservative Party platform released on April 8 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper “balances the areas that are important to Canadians and it continues the stable, sensible course that has been recognized and applauded by both Canadians and experts from other countries,” Fred Slade, federal Conservative candidate for the Sudbury riding, said in a press release.

Slade said the implementation of Here for Canada “by a majority Conservative government will bode well for Sudburians and all Canadians.”

The platform concentrates on five main priorities, the press release stated:
-creating jobs through training, trade and low taxes
-supporting families through the Family Tax Cut and supporting seniors and caregivers
-eliminating the deficit by 2015 by controlling spending and cutting waste
-making streets safe through new laws to protect children and the elderly
-developing Canada's north by cracking down on human smuggling and strengthening the Canadian Armed Forces.

“The choice in this election is clear,” Slade stated. “Canadians can choose from a plan that has worked, and will continue to work, to lower taxes, reduce the deficit and keep Canada moving forward.”
