LU asks 'prominent families' to step up to plate

$37.4 million raised so far by university's Next 50 campaign

Laurentian University is asking “prominent families” in the Sudbury area to contribute to its Next 50 Campaign.

So far, the university's Next 50 campaign, which has a fundraising goal of $50 million, has raised $37.4 million.

In order to engage local families in the campaign, the university has launched its “Sudbury Families” initiative. The initiative, launched at a press conference at the university April 26, is co-chaired by Dario Zulich, John Pollesel and Perry Dellelce.

Twelve local families have already contributed to the Sudbury Families initiative, with the donations adding up to $2.6 million. The Sudbury Families initiative has a fundraising goal of $5 million.

“The Next 50 Campaign is all about driving creativity, innovation and prosperity,” Scott McDonald, chair of the Next 50 Campaign, said in a press release.

“These exceptional local families and community builders, through their hard work, perseverance, and vision, have truly embodied the spirit of the Sudbury Families initiative within our campaign.”
