The Sudbury Regional Hospital is receiving $710,000 from the provincial government to support its Heart Failure Clinic and the Medical Day Clinic.

According to a press release from Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci's office, $360,000 will be allocated to the Heart Failure clinic, “a new service that is designed for patients suffering from congestive heart failure.”

A total of $350,000 will go towards the Medical Day Clinic, which provides treatment to patients who require hospital care, but do not require full admission, the press release stated. Treatment at the clinic includes blood transfusions, infusions of medication and minor procedures.

“The new Heart Failure Clinic and expanded Medical Day Clinic is another example of how we are continuing to evolve as a leading academic health services centre that has, at the forefront, accessible, quality care for patients,” Dr. Denis Roy, hospital president and CEO, said in the release.

“Our government is committed to working with our partners in health care to bring innovative solutions to the challenges we face,” Bartolucci said in the release. “Today's announcement will lead to shorter wait times and better care for patients in Sudbury.”
