Don't be alarmed to hear gunfire or the shattering of glass, and don't be worried about that sniper up on the roof, Elm Street will not be under siege.

Parts of Elm Street will be closed this month as filming for the upcoming flick "The Truth" starring Andy Garcia, Eva Langoria and Forest Whitaker takes place in the city.

Don't be alarmed to hear gunfire or the shattering of glass, and don't be worried about that sniper up on the roof, Elm Street will not be under siege.

 

It is just filming for upcoming Hollywood flick "The Truth", shooting for which will be ongoing until Nov. 15 in the city. It began on Oct. 27. The film stars the likes of Andy Garcia, Eva Langoria andForest Whitaker.

 

The film is the story follows a former CIA operative-turned-political talkshow host, played by Garcia, who is hired by a corporate whistle-blower to expose her company's cover up of a massacre in South American village, according to the Internet Movie Database.

 

To get certain shots for the movie, sections of Elm Street will be closed over a period of three days to allow the movie crews to get the footage they need.

 

Elm Street, Durham Street to Lisgar Street, Sudbury: Filming for a big screen movie production from Nov. 11-13 will close eastbound lanes on Elm Street between Durham and Lisgar Streets. Lanes will remain open for westbound traffic but Elm Street will close at the CP Railway crossing, starting at 8 p.m. Nov. 11.

On Nov. 11 eastbound lanes on Elm between Durham and Lisgar will close from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will also be intermittent closures of Durham Street, between Cedar and Elm Streets, and southbound lanes on Lisgar Street near Elm.

On Nov. 12 eastbound lanes on Elm Street will close from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Durham and Lisgar.

On Nov. 13 eastbound lanes on Elm Street between Durham and Lisgar will close intermittently for approximately four hours in the morning.

The Elm Street sidewalk adjacent to eastbound lanes will close to pedestrians during filming. The sidewalk adjacent to westbound lanes, providing access to the Rainbow Centre, will remain open.

Filming will involve action sequences, including special effects and stunt crews simulating gunfire, shattered car windows and a “sniper” on the roof of a five-storey building at the corner of Elm and Durham Streets. Residents may hear the sound of gunfire on Elm Street during filming.

Emergency services have been briefed on impending lane closures on Elm Street. Arrangements for immediate access and alternate routes are in place.
