Les Stroud is a filmmaker, outdoor adventurer, singer-songwriter and performer.

He's also the keynote speaker at the Music and Film in Motion awards conference and gala on April 26.

Many know him as Survivorman, yet, the internationally known show is only part of what he does. He plays in a band called the Campfire Kings, wrote a book on survival and coined the genre “survival TV.”

His list of accomplishments and credentials is long, as is the list of places he's survived in.

Anyone looking to learn more about Stroud and his adventures can purchase a ticket to the gala for $50 by phoning 705-674-9954 or visiting thinknorth.ca.

He is speaking at 8 p.m. at the Vale Cavern at Science North. He will also be on hand for the awards ceremony portion of the event on April 28 at Laurentian University's Great Hall. Tickets to the awards cost $25.
