Families who have children registered in junior kindergarten in schools run by Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) have an opportunity to participate in Fête en juin (June Celebration) events.

This welcoming activity allows parents whose children will start junior kindergarten to establish a relationship with the school, according to a press release from the school board.

The celebrations will include several activities for children and parents alike.

Souvenirs will be presented to children, while parents will receive information relating to speech, social work and daycare services, as well as school transportation.

In August, incoming junior kindergarten students will have the opportunity to participate at no cost in the “Apprends-p’tit” programme, offered in a dozen CSCNO schools.

This two-week programme will allow students to become familiar with the school environment and junior-kindergarten routine.

Through play-centred activities, children will be able to develop their grasp of the French language, faith, self confidence and social skills.

June Celebration events have already taken place at the following schools: Ste-Marie (Azilda), Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Dominique (Sudbury), Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake) and Saint-Joseph (Wawa).
