Topper's Pizza is showing its northern roots by lending support to victims of the Elliot Lake mall collapse.

In addition to encouraging donations to the relief fund on its online ordering site, Topper's is collecting in-store donations.

“Our company’s roots are in northern Ontario so this tragedy hits close to home for us,” Keith Toppazzini, president of Topper’s Pizza Franchising Company Inc., said.

“Supporting the relief fund is one way to let them know our thoughts are with them.”

Elliot Lake was home to one of the company's first franchises.

For a two-week period, 16 Topper's stores around the province will be asking for $1 donations at the time of purchase.
