Wide load will close sections of roads today

On Aug. 15, a wide load of a large piece of industrial equipment will be escorted, temporarily slowing down traffic in those areas.

The route being followed will be as follows:

Highway 144 at Municipal Road 35 in Chelmsford, east bound;
Continue east on Municipal Road 35 toward Azilda;
East bound on Municipal Road 35 to Clarabelle Road.

The escorts will take place from 1-2 p.m.

The width of the load exceeds the width of two standard roadway lanes and will require the closure of sections of the roads to ensure that no vehicles are parked or obstructing the move, and that no vehicles are travelling towards the wide load while in transit.

The wide loads will have police escorts in addition to escort vehicles, and the Greater Sudbury Police Service will be closing roadway sections as the wide load moves along the route to ensure public and roadway safety. This will create a series of short-term inconveniences for the residents of these areas and for those travelling along the routes listed above.

The public is asked to consider alternative routes to get to your intended destinations during these time periods should you anticipate travelling in these areas.
