More than 40 people had their cars washed by Allstate employees and United Way staff.
“We at Allstate decided to go beyond a workplace campaign and host an event for United Way,” Josh Brown, an agent with Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, said in a press release.
“It is a great organization that helps people in this community.”
“United Way is grateful for all the hard work of the staff at Allstate Sudbury South End,” Katherine Cockburn, campaign co-ordinator for United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts, said.
“A special thank you goes to Josh Brown for taking a leadership role in this event.”
Special events such as this one can be used to raise money, create awareness, motivate, to promote team spirit and encourage friendly competition, the press release stated.
An ideal workplace campaign has one or two events to create enthusiasm and build momentum.
Some examples of special events that are hosted for United Way are chili cook offs, pizza days, penny sale, games day or week, candy grams, popcorn day and gift wrapping.
“It is through the hard work of community minded businesses like Allstate Sudbury South End and donations from citizens that we will be able to reach the 2012 Campaign Goal,” Michael Cullen, executive director for United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts, said.
