The three-month pilot program offering free parking on Elm Street ends Sept. 7, said the City of Greater Sudbury.

Motorists will no longer be permitted to park on Elm Street, between Elgin and Lisgar streets as a result. Greater Sudbury staff has been monitoring the parking program, and results concerning usage, number of tickets issued for parking infractions, and impact on through traffic will be presented to city council this fall.

Afterwards, a decision by council is required to reintroduce the program.

Metered parking and parking in municipal lots remain free of charge in downtown Sudbury, during the evening and on weekends. A $3 charge is applicable in municipal parking lots during special events at the Sudbury Arena.

For more information about parking in downtown Sudbury, visit www.greatersudbury.ca or call 311 for municipal services.
