Located on Second Avenue with the entrance across from Scarlet Street (just down from the Kingsway), the opening will take place at 10:30 a.m. followed by a park improvement dog walkathon. This new park will likely be the first of several to be developed in Greater Sudbury.
The project was spearheaded by the Dogs Off-leash in Greater Sudbury committee. The park will be grass-free and will contain two different areas: one for small/older/less active dogs and another for larger/more active dogs.
There are more than 50,000 responsible dog owners in the City of Greater Sudbury, according to DOGS. In Minnow Lake alone, there are 3,300 dogs, and the city anticipates visitors to the city will take advantage of the dog park and bring their canine friends along with them when they come to Sudbury for shopping.
