Hiring for Target Corp.'s first Canadian stores is officially underway, said the company in a news release.

The Zellers in the Sudbury Superstore mall in New Sudbury is slated to become a Target by next year, the company stated in a previous release. The South End Zellers, located in the Southridge Mall, was not on the list of Zellers stores identified for conversion.

Throughout the fall, Target said it will be looking for talented Canadians to fill a variety of store positions at its first 24 stores across Ontario, scheduled to open in March/April 2013.

All Target locations will offer a range of opportunities from part-time employment. Each store will employ between 150-200 people. Target is already hiring for select store leadership positions and will now be focusing on mass hourly recruitment throughout the fall.

Specifically, Target will be hiring team members for a variety of in-store positions including sales floor, front end, assets protection, facilities management and human resources. Target has also begun seeking out pharmacy franchise owners to own and operate pharmacy businesses within as many stores in Canada as possible.

“Target is looking for talented team members with a wide variety of skills, abilities and backgrounds to help us bring the Target brand experience to life in our new Canadian stores,” said Bryan Berg, senior vice-president, Stores, Target Canada. “Whether candidates are looking for a career in retail or a flexible part-time opportunity, Target encourages all those interested to apply to join our store teams.”

Target is accepting resumes online and interested candidates can visit Target.ca/careers to learn more about the application process, upcoming hiring events, and Target's work environment.
