Science North has partnered with Newalta to continue showing its award-winning object theatre presentation The Changing Climate Show.
The Changing Climate Show features the return of the beloved rubber-booted, animated narrator Sheepie, voiced by Rick Mercer. With Sheepie, visitors return to Sheep Hill, the stage of Science North’s original production, The Climate Change Show, to see how the past decades have affected our woolly friends. The sheep are hard at work trying to figure out why their pasture is drying out. The focus of the show is not about whether climate change is happening or not, but how we must adapt to the challenge. It is about the positive steps we can take to minimize our impact on the planet. The experience is fun, the technological effects are stunning and the topic is timely.
Newalta, “a North American leader in providing innovative, engineered environmental solutions to industry,” has committed to a five-year sponsorship of the show. The company is in the process of relocating to to Long Lake Road.
"Newalta is a proud member of the communities in which we operate," saidMike Nerbas, senior business manager. “As a company focused on protecting the environment, we are thrilled to partner with Science North to present The Changing Climate Show to raise awareness on the ways we can reduce our environmental footprint.”
Science North agrees that the partnership will yield positive results.
“Ever-changing experiences in our science centres attract repeat visitors, and support the northern tourism industry,” states Jacqueline Savoie, director of development at Science North. “As a non-profit organization and registered charity, we rely on the support of private businesses and donors to make this happen. We are absolutely thrilled with this partnership that will allow both Science North and Newalta to achieve their purpose.”
