By being proactive and implementing this cost-effective and efficient program, the city can repair leaks, which will reduce water loss, and can help reduce operational costs, the city said in a press release. Locating and repairing leaks can prevent large costly water main breaks that interrupt water service and result in damage to both public and private property.
Watermark Solutions Ltd. has been retained to survey municipal water mains and associated services in Copper Cliff, Lively, Walden, Azilda, Chelmsford, Onaping/Levack, Val Caron, Val Therese, Hanmer, Capreol and Falconbridge.
The leak detection survey is scheduled between Oct. 22 and Nov. 2. Some minor traffic delays and overnight work will be necessary when crews must occupy arterial roads to gather readings.
