Base Metals at Vale is in the process of a business-wide review to address some significant short-term challenges. One of the steps in that restructuring process is to build an organizational model that sees site-specific leads at each of Vale's major operating sites in Canada – reporting directly to the global headquarters for Base Metals in Toronto, with the result that Pollesel's role is no longer required, Vale said.
Pollesel played a pivotal role in developing Vale's Canadian and UK operations, the company said, and it wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
When contacted by Northern Life Nov. 1, Pollesel declined comment.
Pollesel has been employed by the mining industry for more than 20 years, and joined Vale in August 2008.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and a Certified Management Accountant.
He graduated from Laurentian University with a master's degree in Business Administration and holds an Honours BA in Accounting from the University of Waterloo.
