Waste Collection Schedule:

Dec. 25 - Christmas Day:
-Household garbage and recycling collection which falls on Dec. 25, will be changed to Dec. 29. Landfills and recycling centres will be closed on Dec. 25.

Dec. 26 - Boxing Day:
-Garbage and recycling collection are unaffected by this holiday. The city will collect on this day. Landfills and recycling centres are unaffected by this holiday and will be open on Dec. 26.

Jan. 1, 2013 - New Year's Day:
-Household garbage and recycling collection which falls on Jan. 1 will be changed to Jan. 5. Landfills and recycling centre will be closed on Jan. 1.

The city asks that residents ensure their garbage is at the curb by 7 a.m. as pickup times may vary occasionally without notice.

Greater Sudbury library branches and citizen service centres will close Dec. 24 at 2 p.m., 25, 26, 31 at 2 p.m. and Jan. 1. Holiday hours of operation for the 13 locations can be found at www.sudburylibraries.ca.

Hours at municipal swimming pools and fitness facilities vary by location. Call to confirm times. Contact information is available at www.greatersudbury.ca.

Greater Sudbury arenas are closed Dec. 24 at 1 p.m., 25, 26, 31 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 1.

For information about the free holiday skating, visit a local Tim Hortons for a schedule of dates and locations.

Outdoor recreation facilities including Capreol and Lively Ski Hills, Queens Athletic Skating Oval and the Ramsay Lake Skate Path, will open as weather permits. The city will advise when these facilities are open for the season.

Greater Sudbury Transit will not operate on Dec. 25. Transit will run on the Sunday service schedule on Jan. 1. Free transit rides will be available New Year's Eve after 10 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Route information can be found at www.greatersudbury.ca/transit including modified schedules for Dec. 24 routes.

The City of Greater Sudbury maintains a 24-hour telephone service for road, water and sewer emergencies. Call 311 seven days a week.
