15 cm expected by tonight
That's the message Greater Sudbury Police Chief Frank Elsner tweeted this morning. It may come as no surprise, but Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning.
A band of heavy snow has developed ahead of a low pressure system tracking across lower Michigan today. Up to 15 centimetres of snow is expected before it comes to an end early this evening, said Environment Canada.
The snow is making for "terrible" driving conditions, Elsner said.
As of 10 a.m. today, the temperature was -5 C, but the windchill made it feel more like -11 C.
Travellers should be prepared for poor driving conditions in heavy and accumulating snow.
Periods of light snow tonight will make way for freezing drizzle tomorrow morning, changing to freezing rain then to rain and fog in the afternoon.
More rain is expected Jan. 30.
