A low from Colorado is tracking northeast toward the Upper Great Lakes today and tonight, according to Environment Canada. A band of freezing rain ahead of its associated warm front has spread across Northeastern Ontario.
Freezing rain may become mixed with ice pellets at times, and is expected to last for several hours over most locations.
The freezing rain will change over to plain rain as the warm front moves through, but it will take until this evening for the warm front to make it through Northern and eastern regions near the Quebec border.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 8 C for Jan. 30, with 10-15 millimetres of rain. Temperatures are expected to dip to 0 C by the afternoon.
Most areas will receive 2 to 5 mm of freezing rain.
