Xstrata workers ratify deal

Xstrata Nickel office, clerical and technical staff voted 75 per cent in favour of four-year collective agreement at a March 1 ratification vote.

Steelworkers Local 2020 had reached a deal with the company on behalf of the 225 workers at around 4 a.m. that day.

Marc Ayotte, a staff representative with the Steelworkers, said in an email statement the deal includes “increases in wages every year, with benefit and language improvement.”
