Valley Driver Training, based out of Hanmer, has signed a partnership agreement with Northern College in Timmins to deliver commercial driving and heavy equipment operator training.

A unique aspect of the program delivery is that all of the training is hands-on, and there is no observation time or simulator training. Time spent in this program is time spent working with the equipment.

Both programs are open to the public as well as to companies looking to develop their workforce through employee training.

“We offer a variety of individual programs or combinations of programs,” said Karen Hamel, a training consultant with Northern College.

“We’ll also work directly with employers to offer refresher training or to conduct employee assessments if an influx of safety incidents or near misses is evident.

“Conversely, if employers are looking for operators or licensed drivers, they can get in touch with us to recruit students. We’ll assist with recruitment, hold information sessions and deliver the exact training the employer is looking for.”
