For students and faculty in Cambrian’s heavy duty equipment program, the annual arrival of boxes containing all-new Dewalt tools feels like Christmas morning.

“It’s always exciting to break open the boxes and try out new tools that we’ve received,” said program co-ordinator Bob Huzij.

As part of an annual giving program, Xstrata Nickel’s Sudbury operation donates thousands of dollars to Cambrian’s heavy duty equipment program.

“Xstrata purchases a lot of Dewalt tools throughout the year to support its operations and the company then receives a rebate from a local retailer, which they donate to us. This year, Xstrata’s rebate allowed Cambrian to order new shop tools valued at about $9,000. We’re very appreciative of this contribution to our program, which definitely enhances the students’ educational experience.”

Multi-cutters, grinders, impact wrenches and drills are among the well-used tools stocked in Cambrian’s Heavy Duty Equipment shop.
